Non-toxic solutions: Sunscreen and Aftersun make'n'take

  • Hair Spa 440 Parliament Street Toronto, ON, M5A 3A2 Canada (map)

Make-and-take workshop at Hair Spa, part of a series on making non-toxics for daily life.

Non-toxic Sunscreens (lotion and cream) and After-Sun Spray

RSVP to join in!

Only 10 spaces available for this make-and-take workshop.

Homemade sunscreen seems like a no-brainer. After all sunscreen should be just that, something that acts as a barrier, and not increase our risk of any additional harm.
Canada consumer protection agency Environmental Defence and Environmental Working Group provide information on the risks associated with the offensive junk used in mass produced cosmetic sunscreen products.  We don't need it on our skin or in our lives. We can make our own, very easily.  Let's do it together!

This workshop includes all supplies and equipment needed to make at least 2 different sunscreens and 1 aftersun to take home, including for example:

  • A lotion with SPF20 for face and sensitive skin.
  • A waterproof cream for swimming and beach time with SPF45.
  • Or some customized solutions.
  • A soothing and cooling non-toxic aftersun spray.

Ingredients we'll be using include: beeswax, cocoa butter, red raspberry seed oil, non-nano zinc oxide, and your choice of dōTERRA CPTG essential oils including lavender, helichrysum, myrrh, peppermint, and geranium.

For aftersun: aloe vera gel, apple cider vinegar, distilled water, red raspberry seed oil, and therapeutic essential oils.

We will be using high quality organic and non-gmo materials, and the 3 containers provided for each person are re-fillable silicone and glass (no soft plastics).

We will also discuss and provide a handout on dietary options to support healthy skin and reduce the risk of burns and damage from the inside out.

This workshop is $55 for new customers or $35 for those with a dōTERRA account.

Pay in advance to reserve your spot, or pay at the door.
